Our children are learning opera!

We're excited to introduce a remarkable new project that's bringing professional opera to our Year 5 classrooms. This term, children from Linthwaite Clough and Meltham Moor Primary Schools are working with Opera North's talented musicians and artists to learn eight opera songs – opening doors to arts and culture many have never experienced before.

Rehearsals are well underway, and it's wonderful to see our children discovering new voices and building confidence as they tackle this ambitious musical challenge. They're not just learning songs; they're gaining skills and experiences that will benefit them far beyond the classroom.

The project culminates in a special community performance on Thursday 26th June at St. Bart's, Meltham, where our young performers will take the stage alongside professional musicians. It promises to be a proud moment for families and a real celebration of what our children can achieve when given the opportunity.

We're seeking community support to make this project sustainable over the coming years, ensuring every child can participate regardless of their family's financial situation. This investment in our children's creativity and confidence is an investment in our community's future.
