Ofsted report

Our last full Ofsted inspection took place in September 2023 and the school was rated inadequate. Since then, the school has undergone rapid improvement, with the support of Together Learning Trust and under new leadership. A monitoring visit by Ofsted in October 2024 reported significant improvements.

Our journey continues at pace and we are confident of a positive inspection when Ofsted next return. We invite prospective families to visit us and judge our school for yourself.

Staff are fully committed and dedicated to making improvements for pupils at the school.

  • Leadership and Vision
Since Mr Roberts began as Headteacher this September, his focus has been to bring direction, clarity, and energy to the school. Inspectors noted that we have “wasted no time in prioritising the most urgent issues,” with clear steps forward to strengthen the learning experience. This includes both significant curriculum improvements and a renewed commitment to pupils’ wellbeing, which have been supported wholeheartedly by our staff and leadership team.

    Strengthening the Curriculum
One of our main priorities has been to enhance the curriculum to ensure it is ambitious, well-structured, and engaging across all subjects. Ofsted highlighted our “strong start” in improving the curriculum with careful planning and are already seeing early positive impacts on both teacher confidence and pupils’ learning. The focus has been on creating a rich, cohesive learning journey from Early Years to Year 6, aiming to build secure knowledge and a genuine interest in each subject. Pupils themselves were able to discuss their understanding confidently during the inspection, reflecting their excitement about learning.

    Supporting Our Staff
Our teachers and support staff have been at the heart of this journey. With targeted professional development and coaching, they are building both expertise and a sense of shared purpose. Ofsted found that “staff are fully committed and dedicated to making improvements for the pupils at the school,” which is evident in classrooms and throughout the school. This commitment extends to helping each child thrive academically and personally, especially those who need extra support.

    Positive Behaviour and Wellbeing
Inspectors observed that the improvements in behaviour and the school environment are fostering a calm and focused atmosphere. Our new behaviour policy, which pupils describe as fair, has contributed to a greater sense of belonging and pride in the school. This caring yet structured environment means that children feel safe and encouraged to engage fully in their learning.

    Moving Forward Together
The backing of Together Learning Trust and the Interim Executive Board (IEB) has been invaluable, providing expertise, understanding and support and holding us to the highest standards in our improvement journey. As Ofsted remarked, “The trust has provided exceptional external support,” and together we are committed to sustaining these rapid improvements. Our goal remains to provide a nurturing, stimulating school where every child is known, supported, and inspired to be bold, brave and brilliant. The developments we are making will serve to enrich and deepen this, so that every child benefits from an education that is both broad and meaningful.
