Meals and Milk
Let’s fuel those brains and bodies well! Good nutrition helps children learn and grow. Our delicious school dinners offer healthy and tasty hot food each lunchtime. Children also have fresh milk daily.
What’s for dinner?
Our caterers are Kirklees Catering, who prepare fresh food on site each day. The menus are planned in line with Government food standards, and use local and seasonal produce. All eggs are free range, meat is farm-assured as a minimum and fish comes from sustainable stocks. Meals are created with health in mind, including ‘sugar smart’ desserts and avoiding artificial additives.
If your child has a special dietary requirement or has an allergy to any food items, please consult with the head teacher at your school who will liaise with the school's kitchen supervisor to ensure your child is catered for. Daily menus always cater for both vegetarians and Halal.
Paying for dinners
All children in Reception, Years 1 and 2 are entitled to school meals for free under the national Universal Infant School Meals programme. Everyone is entitled, regardless of circumstances and you don't need to apply.
For children in other years, meals cost £2.75 per day (£2.85 from September 2025). This must be paid in advance online via ParentPay. Please speak to the school office if you have any questions.
Families in receipt of various benefits may be entitled to free school meals. Find out more from Kirklees Council.
Bringing packed lunches and snacks
Some families choose to provide a packed lunch for their child, or a snack for breaktime.
If you do so, please ensure this is nutritious:
No sugary or fizzy drinks, or energy drinks
No nuts or nut products such as peanut butter (help to keep those with allergies safe)
Breaktime snacks should be healthy choices such as fruit or a cereal bar, not sweets or chocolate.
Cool Milk daily
Milk is a great source of essential nutrients for children, including calcium, protein, and vitamins, which are vital for bone and muscle health, as well as overall growth and development.
Milk is provided free for children under the age of 5, and those entitled to free school meals. It is subsidised for those over 5, and costs around £20 per term.
Our milk in school is delivered fresh daily. You must register via the Cool Milk website to ensure your child does not miss out.
