Safeguarding
Keeping children safe is everyone’s responsibility!
All staff at Linthwaite Clough Primary School understand their individual responsibilities when it comes to safeguarding and its importance, following guidelines set by the Department for Education. Members across our school community play a key role in ensuring our children are safe at all times. On this page, you can find information about the systems we have in place to do so, and what you need to do if you have any concerns about a child.

What to do if you are worried about a child
Who to contact at Linthwaite Clough
Designated Safeguarding Lead: James Roberts
Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads: Mrs Alison Barker and Mr Liam Kershaw
What happens if there is a cause for concern?
Our first priority is of course each child’s welfare and school is required to take any reasonable action to ensure the safety of its pupils.
However there may be occasions when we have reason to be concerned that a child may be subject to ill-treatment, neglect or other forms of abuse. We will ensure that our concerns about a child are discussed with his/her parents/carers first, unless we have reason to believe that such action would put the child at greater risk.
In this case school is obliged to follow the Child Protection procedures and inform the Children's Social Services of the concern.
If you are worried about a child's safety please do not hesitate to contact the school or contact Kirklees safeguarding.
